Drought Impacts to Water Footprints and Virtual Water Transfers of Counties of the United States

This data is part of a research publication assessing how irrigation water footprints of production are spatially distributed and differ in drought years versus non-drought years.

This dataset contains estimates for Virtual Water Content and Virtual Water Trade for 9 unique combinations of 3 crop categories (cereal grains, produce, and animal feed) and 3 water sources (surface water withdrawals, groundwater withdrawals, and groundwater depletion) for 2012 and 2017 within the continental U.S.
